Soft fleece armwarmers. They've been helping me thru the temp changes; I think the added heat makes the sore areas happier.

Also, you might want to try thermacare heat wraps when you can't have a heating pad on. Small things, but they can help make a day bearable.

You look fantasic Gorey-ed up! :-)

Yeah, I've been thinking about armwarmers. I'm really astonished at how the soreness will spread into my muscles when the arthritis is particularly bad. In general, *all* of the joint issues seem to be getting hit really hard by the changes in the weather this season, which is particularly dispiriting. Keeping everything warm will have to become a priority as we move into winter.

The wrist thing wasn't entirely weather-driven, though the weather certainly didn't help. It really does seem to be some kind of RSI issue, but I can't figure out what set it off this time. I do have an old RSI problem in the left wrist, but I hadn't really been doing the things that typically cause problems on the left side. I dunno.

Target has some black and threaded metallic silver legwarmers right now that work nicely as arm warmers; they're on clearance for $5. My only real problem with them is sometimes my skin is too sensitive to wear them (the texture hurts).

The ones with buttons are cute, but I haven't seen them in my store.

I'm thinking about a pair of these from REI, and still looking for polar fleece ones, for days when texture is a big deal.

...yes, I have given a lot of thought to this. It started dropping into the high 20s in September here.

Also, I know it's beating a dead horse a bit, but vitamins. Especially B-vitamins, if you're not already. Between those and the iron, I've been feeling much better (sure the other stuff I'm taking is helping, too, but I can feel it when I don't take the Bs or the iron).

I think you look fantastic!

Where did you find white mascara?

The mascara I was wearing yesterday is from NYX Cosmetics; I'm not entirely happy with it, the brush is too small to get good coverage (I had to do three coats and still couldn't get it as far down the lashes as I wanted), though it wears well. But my original discovery of this effect came with some white mascara I found at Hot Topic from good ol' Morbid Makeup years ago. It's such a subtle thing--people know immediately that something isn't right, but they can't always figure out what, just that it makes them uneasy. I love doing it. :D (White is also good as a "toner" mascara to make brightly-colored mascaras like silver or pink or bright blue stand out better.)

That dinner sounds so cozy... a perfect Winter/Autumnal meal! For us it was tri-colour pasta with roasted garlic pasta sauce (with lots of rosemary added in), finished off with some Devil's Food/Kahlua cake.

I fell asleep early whilst trying to watch the Addams Family on tv ~ rock and roll lifestyle, I tell ya! :P

Ooooh, that sounds even more yummy than my dinner.

I had not eaten anything at all up to that point (a very bad habit I often fall into on weekends), and I realized I needed something that was filling, balanced, and nutritious, but wouldn't take much effort. That fit the bill. (The cupcake was purchased while we were out and about.)

I did end up going out after all, but it was to a very low-key gathering at a nearby friend's house, a small group with lots of chatting and slow sipping of beverages rather than anything big and raucous. It turned out to be such the perfect thing that we totally lost track of time and our hostess had to kick us all out at 1:30 a.m.! So maybe not a rock'n'roll lifestyle these days, but certainly the potential for long nights of the right type. :)

Oh goodness, did you really just give me that link? I'm in frosting covered trouble now ~ those sound so delicious!

That sounds like my kind of night... much like what we had wanted to do actually, but the friends who were hosting the night were three hours away, and we have a drive coming up this week that's four hours each way, so we had to pass. Maybe next year though :) (My dream is to have a Halloween like that in some old house in Ireland, surrounded with friends from all over one of these years!)

You look great - I love the 1910s Poiret sort of line of that outfit, and particularly the hat.

Thank you! When I do these outfits, I generally try to cover at much skin as possible so I have to do a minimum amount of white makeup, and so I picked a high-necked top and long skirts. Once I'd put together the top and skirts, I realized I could finish it off with that sort of late-Edwardian/Poiret feel with the hat and duster. I was quite pleased with how it came out.

I've had that hat for a decade; it was for a long time the most expensive hat I'd ever bought (it's silk velvet and cashmere, and came from J. Peterman back when they had stores). But it's turned out to be one of those things where it justified its own cost, because it's worked with so many outfits and is an excellent cold-weather hat as well.
