They're almost the same...

But I suppose if I had to say it, guilt can be forced on someone, but remorse is something only you can feel, of your own volition. Or maybe it's that... you can feel guilty for anything, but you can only feel remorse for an act that involved your action... or inaction.

But that was a really smart answer you had to it, nee-chan! Are you a sage or something?

...I think guilt is simply when you feel bad for something, but remorse is more when you feel sorry for it.

But I'm not really sure, to be honest. Someone else could probably explain it better than me.

I think you did good, though. Better than what I was going on my own.

I have two jobs, so it shouldn't be a problem.

I hate vegetables. Fish and chicken is better and ramen is best, so I plan on eating mostly that while nobody is around to make me do otherwise. It's meat and noodles for me!

Well! Both guilt and remorse are characterized by self-reproach, but I would hardly call them the same thing. Guilt is a feeling of fault for past offenses (real or imagined), whereas remorse is an emotional distress resulting from the presence of guilt. You can feel guilty without experiencing remorse, but you can't be remorseful without first feeling guilty.

Well then what if you felt guilty before but suddenly you're feeling remorseful?

I'm no good at this stuff.

Then you're experiencing both, and you might as well determine the source of your guilt, confront it, and overcome it before it devours you and forces you to spend the rest of your natural life brooding.

That's what I'm worried about.

Because that's how I feel right now. It's stupid. I'm over it.
