Icontest Poll - Why don't YOU participate in our challenges?

I've noticed that we've had less theme entries in the past few challenges and I was wondering if there was something we could do to encourage more entries. I'd like to ask why don't YOU participate in the theme challenges? Is it hard to find caps, are the challenges unclear, do you not like the challenges, are you sick of having to make so many

I appreciate your poll feedback, also. We have considered that in the past, but at the time things were a little crazy around here (drama llama visiting), so we haven't implemented that yet. We should consider it again.

Honestly I love the theme challenge because it really put's your creativity to the test since you have nothing to start from.

But I think for some people it could be hard because you really have to know Ncis in order to enter, to be able to remember a certain scene in a certain episode and get your inspiration from it.

I'm not voting in the pool because i always enter the theme challenge :P

This is true. Some of them (text, promos, etc) do require additional knowledge. We should take that into account.

It's not so much that I can't find the caps; I'm just lazy. :) With most of the other icon challenges that I participate in, I already have lots of caps for it sitting on my hard drive. So when there's a non-cap challenge, I don't have to go hunting down caps. With NCIS, I have very few caps on my computer, so I usually just use the provided caps. Like I said, I'm just lazy that way.

I've seen some other comms supply some sample caps for theme challenges, but then specify that you can find your own too. But that would be more work for the mods and I understand the surprising amount of time that running an icontest takes up! And I really appreciate you guys keeping this one active. :)

So if we would provide 3-4 options for caps, then you would consider participating.

Some, like this week's challenge (text), are easy to grab just 2-3 caps and throw them in, and we often have some idea of what we're thinking of cap wise in the theme challenges. (For this challenge, you could snag some of the caps we put up for past challenges, or even for this week's cap challenge, if you want to enter the theme challenge)

I'll definitely take this into account and see what we can do about it! Thank you for your feedback.

When real life is really busy (as it is at the moment) knowing that you have to start completely from scratch and find a cap that inspires stops you from starting in the first place. With the capture challenge the caps are already there and it so much easier to come up with an idea.

Also different things inspire different people - for example this week, I'm not good at coming up with ideas for text so I probably wouldn't enter it even if I had time. Also if the theme is around a character that isn't one of my favourites I'm usually not inspired by it.

But I do love the theme challenge, I just rarely have the time.

So, if we provided a few caps (and still allowed you to use your own) for the theme challenges, you might be more inclined to enter at least some of them?
