Installing custom mood themes

How to install a custom mood theme:

1. Download and unzip the file.

**You must extract the images from the zip file. You can view a zipped folder but you cannot access its contents.**

2. Upload all the images to a photo-sharing website like Photobucket or ImageShack.

3. Open the file called "_adminconsole.TXT". It should open in Notepad.

**If your mood theme did not come with this file and you would like it, let me know.**

4. Change all the links so that they will link back to your images. An easy way to do this is the find and replace function (CTRL+H). Rather than individually inputting all of the separate image links, just select everything except the file name ("angry.jpg", etc.) - including the backslash directly before it - and replace it.

Find: http://www.yoursite.com/
Replace: whatever the URL for your pictures will be, with everything except the file name

**Most image sharing sites put the URL in a text box underneath the picture. That is what you copy.**

IMPORTANT: If you use the _adminconsole.TXT file from me but NOT one of my mood themes (which you can, it's the same HTML), you may have to change the image size - the numbers at the end of each line. Not all mood theme images are this size. Check the image size of your mood theme before you start.

You may also need to change the file type. The images with my mood theme are .jpgs, but not all mood themes are. Some may be .gifs or .pngs. Check the file type before you start.

Also, I've gotten admin console files where the file names were spelled incorrectly.

EVEN MORE IMPORTANT: The limit for URLs is 100 characters. I recently had someone who did everything correctly, but the images wouldn't work because the link itself was too long. If you're like me and you have your Photobucket divided into 50 bajillion different subfolders, try calling your folders something as short and simple as possible.

5. Go to LJ's command console here.

6. Type in the following command:

moodtheme_create name des

**Do not type name des. Instead, follow what is below.**

name - what you want to name the mood theme. I named my Lindsay Monroe theme "Lindsay".
des - a short description of the theme. I just put "Lindsay Monroe mood theme".

Do not forget the quotation marks.

Hit 'execute'.

If you are successful, you will be taken to a page that gives you a 6-digit number. This is your themeID.

8. Copy your themeID (the 6-digit number) and go back to your _adminconsole.TXT file. Replace (CTRL+H) the x's with the number.

Find: xxxxxx
Replace: your themeID

9. Select all (CTRL+A) and copy it to the clipboard (CTRL+C).

10. Go back to the admin console on LJ, where you should see a dialogue box that says 'enter commands'. Paste (CTRL+V) the information from _adminconsole.TXT into the box.

Hit 'execute'.

And you're done! Go to customize journal and select your new mood theme.

***It may take several tries to get it right, but don't get discouraged! Just make sure you don't change anything except what I said and it should work fine. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.***
