The Good Concrit Check List

The Good Critique Check list:
[] Is my critique easy to understand?
[] Are my reasons based on technical mechanics and not personal opinion?
[] Have I told the applicant why their icons aren't technically sound?
[] Have I been specific?
[] Have I also told the applicant what they're doing correctly?
[] Have I pointed the applicant toward sources of inspiration and/or useful resources that they can use to make what they're already doing better?
[] Have I used adjectives or nouns that could be insulting? (i.e bad, awful, ugly, wrong, etc.)
[] Have I avoided phasing that could be easily perceived as condescending, judgmental, or arrogant (i.e 'The way I do it is the only correct way')?

Hi there! I love the coloring in your icons, and the cropping is really good too. The first one is a little blurry though, but it seems a little too red and yellow, and it's a bit blurry, but that might just be the texture. The second one is awesome, the texture use is fantastic, the third one, I really love the coloring, but it's too bright in that left corner. The fourth one, I'm not sure who is actually in this one, which you'll want to always make sure that is possible, although if you want to make use of that black on the left side, you could blend either the same photo in or another one instead of leaving it blank like that. I love the coloring in the last one too, and the texture use is really good again, although I'd make the white part a bit higher so they aren't smothered by it, unless that's not a texture haha.

Sorry for crappy concrit, I'm still getting better at it, but you are talented already, just little things to work on! ♥

#3: Here the brown coloring seems to have pixellated the blacks in the image. You can remedy this by painting, on a new layer with a small brush, over the blacks and setting the layer to the mode that looks best. You can also use Selective Coloring (under the blacks channel) to boost the black coloring back into the icon. This will soften the reddish pixellated edges around both Maleficent and her crow. Also, while I do like the moody coloring in the background, I think, in order for this icon to really pop, you might consider playing around with lighting and coloring elements in a more noticeable way, really capitalize on the negative space and the sense of evil/foreboding that you can create within the icon. Take this icon by deadwillwalk, for instance; the blacks aren't sacrifice by how light the icon has become and the moody green light in the background has been enhanced (through brushes or textures or both!) so that the icon really pops. There's also a grittiness to the icon that enhances the moodiness of the subject. This icon by erzsebet is also ( ... )

(oouukay) Here I'm trying to be useful with not so much knowledge so maybe you'd give me the benefit of the doubt, please! But I'll be silent about the crops because I really can't be objective on those. I either like or dislike one... no idea why!

1 - I love the crispy coloring and all the yellow! what I'd maybe do is take the red on his face a notch or two down. (but again I've no idea how this coloring works ::shrugs::)
2 - I really like this pink/magenta thing on the left side! It'd be great if you find a way (gradients, textures...) to bring in more contrast between Sam and that thing [ ;D let's call it the thing! ] and bring more depth in the icon.
3 - I like this icon so much! But I've to say how I envision it ::blush::because I'm noisy like that (sorry) I for some reason see smoke (gray) in it (saw it! it's the coat!), maybe with a texture or two You'd bring that out more clearly. And it has text!! I love text!!
4 - I love this one!!
5 - the only thing that bugs me here is the red in the left corner, that's it!
