I guess 'THEY GON RULE SOMEDAY' doesn't have quite the same ring to it.

I understand. I do. I've come to the point of putting text on an icon and had my mind go blank.

But please, PLEASE find SOMETHING else to write on an Arthur or Gwen icon except 'once and future'.

PLEASE.

I've seen so many Arthur icons with the text 'once and future king' on it that after I while I just wanted to gauge my own eyes out, just so that I don't have to look at it anymore.

Same here. And I'm not even in the fandom.

Don't you love how some bit of fandom knowledge is always the default for icons? (See also: Supernatural's "family business" quote)

Heh, I was wondering whether anyone would pick up on that. (I don't mind it so much in Latin...)

No, me neither. In some way, this is sort of amusing elitism, which I love. :)

(i don't watch the comm. so i'm a little late to the party!)

haha, i was wondering why your icon was technically the thing you disliked about certain icons. then my ap english teacher popped into my head and screamed IRONY at me. in your defense, you've got the 'here lies arthur' bit as well, and not just the 'once and future king'. thanks for the chuckle :D

Oh god the same goes for other fandoms, too. I get that there are really obvious lines and phrases to use, but there comes a point when you have to realize that it's been overdone. And also that sometimes an icon will be much better without text than with the same phrase :[

Exactly! Same goes for wallpapers. Plus, there are heaps of old school quotes to be plundered from old manuscripts/retellings if you just want filler text.

Oh man yes. I'm an avid Arthurian legends fan, I can definitely say there are some awesome quotes out there. Makes me want to make some Lancelot icons and use quotes from The Knight of the Cart :x
