" No one makes clothes for a petite woman with a 36DD-F (depends on the brand as things are less standardized at that size) chest and a 26" "

is it okay that i'm super jealous? i'd KILL to have that kind of body!

Yeah, that's just fine. (= My waist isn't actually quite back down to that size (I'm thinking we're at about 28" since the 29" waist pants I have are loose but not horribly sagging). But at the rate I'm losing my pregnancy weight, I'll be there before I know it.

If it's any consolation, I'd kill to have your hair. It always looks so gorgeous!

Curiousity, but I thought sergers are just for hemming around the clothing. I bought Viking myself, just a regular sewing machine. I've heard singer are good machines. But I don't know of anyone who has just a serger. They usually have sergers and sewing machines.

I could be wrong.

As far as I can tell, that's (possibly) intended to be a combination. I didn't even notice that the link I put up had described it as a serger until you said something, but on Singer's website they just describe it as a commercial grade sewing machine. But it might just do that, I don't know. This is why I ask. (=

I use a serger for all sorts of non-hem garment assembly because it's quick and leaves a finished edge without having to press out seams.

The few people I know that have just a serger make circus costumes where fine finishing details aren't important. One of my tios can look at someone and sew a costume to fit without using a pattern, but he marvels at French seams and heirloom sewing techniques.

Cheeky answer: When I saw my username followed by "I'm looking at you", I was afraid it was going to be followed by a question about how to hire a hitman ( ... )

Nah, I'm pretty sure I know where and how to get hitmen ( ... )

that reminded me...they make a special foot designed for velvet now. it has a piece on it that is similar to the rudder of a boat and making it easier to sew velvet. hard to describe...but makes straighter lines and less stretching.

How odd! I'll have to keep an eye out for that.

For the record, it's hard, but not impossible, I was a 34DD-F with a 26" waist while breastfeeding as I lost the waist, and found clothes..

The hardest thing is finding GOOD bras.. Thisis one fo those times that a little debt is NOT a bad thing. Break out the credit card and find a GOOD corsetry store, they will carry MUCH higher quality bras that can give you the support you need.

Well, here's the thing. I refuse to buy clothes in retail stores. I'd rather pay less for more, and clothes in these proportions don't show up in thrift stores all that often. And I can't stand really baggy clothes, so that's out.

I've found that the Victoria's Secret ipex (or whatever it's called) works pretty well for me, but I can only spend $50 on a bra every so often. (We don't use credit cards, so that's also sadly not an option.) Until I can do that more often, I'm continuing to wear the nursing bras I have, which are the bra equivalent of granny panties and feel like light armor, but do get the job done.

The biggest issue for me, really, is getting clothes that I'd actually wear. I'm insanely picky.

Ahh.. gotcha... Never mind.. ;)

And yeah, Vicky's bras are nice, but they don't make the good ones in DD and larger.. :(
