Yes, Iconbenders is back!
As we move into a new age for this icontest comm, I would first like to have a round of applause (or whatever the internet equivalent is) for Stickxkeyblade creating and running this community up until now... THANK YOU!
Ok, so this Community is getting a facelift- let's change it up a little, and get us moving again! So sometime this ( Read more... )

Seconding this as to why I voted no~

As for me marking other in the "What types of icontests do YOU like best?" part, I still prefer the traditional icontest where a general theme is offered. (Think bishounenawards or clamp_icontest.) Granted, they do have the occassional lyrical and technical challenges so it's not just a word theme being offered up.

Your cut seems to be working, but the space where stickxkeyblade's username should appear early in your post seems to continue to be blank. :) Do you use the Rich Text or HTML editor for writing posts?

Sorry about that! I mainly use the HTML editor for posting, but I switch over when I work with polls, lj-cuts, etc. So some things must have been bungled on the few switches that I made. Also it was around 1:30 in the morning at that point, haha.
Anyway, it's all fixed, thank you!

I know that 1:30AM feeling. :)

LJ-cuts are very easy to add in the HTML editor, but polls, not so much. I have a vague recollection of there being some sort of special poll-building doodad for people who use the HTML editor but I can't recally anything about it...

Some poll comments:

I used to participate in aswimcontest, which used mod rotation. The contests started out being fairly coherent, but as new mods came on to replace old mods the weekly contests started going off in funny directions as the themes and methods became increasingly disjointed. I voted no on that entry in the poll, but I'm not precisely against a mod rotation. I just think that if we have multiple mods we'd also need good communication among them, so as to keep a better sense of coherence to the ongoing contests.

For the best liked icontests, I just checked all the entries. That may seem silly but it reflects my thinking that in a general icontest community all types of themes should be fair game.

Is there going to be a possibility of having alternating contests, as in we have a challenge every week, but two weeks to participate in one costume, so that there's a contest every week, but everyone doesn't have to rush to get their entries done within a week?

I work a 8-5 M-F job so I don't really have any time for making icons during the week, I would really support and appreciate having the contests have a two week entry period over one week.

Hmm... that's a good idea, I'll run that by the rest of the members next challenge I post... until then, it will still be the weekly thing.

...What is Hush? And what a LIMs? :D

A hush icontest is one where the icon doesn't have any text whatsoever (like my icon in this comment).
And a LIMS is aka Last Icon Maker Standing - a competition within the community, eliminating contestants until you have an icon making champ.
Hope that'll do it for ya'. :D
