Going from
to

LARGE IMAGES UNDER THE CUT. Non translatable (uses Selective Coloring).

1. Crop, sharpen, blur, etc. your image.

2. Duplicate your background layer and set it to screen to lighten it. I set my opacity to 60% after fiddling around with it for a bit.

3. Duplicate your base, drag it to the top and set it to soft light. I left the opacity at 100% to create the most contrast, but leaving it so it doesn't look harsh.

4. Make a new brightness/contrast layer. Lower the brightness and up the contrast. My settings are brightness: -19 and contrast: 29.

5. Open up a new curves layer with these settings:

RGB: one node: output 135  and input 106. This just lightens the image.
Red: one node: output 115 and input 130 This takes out some red in the picture and brings out the cyan.
Green: one node: output 122 and input 125 This takes out some green and brings out magenta.
Blue: one node: output 123 input 112 This brings out more blue and takes out yellow.

6. Make a new selective color layer with these settings:

reds: -100 0 100 100
yellows: 0 0 -51 0
neutrals: 0 0 0 -18

7. Make a new selective color layer with these settings:

reds: 100 32 100 0
yellows: -100 0 0 0
cyans: 100 -100 -100 100
blues: -58 -100 -31 100
whites: 46 -18 -17 30
blacks: 0 0 0 -9

8. Add any text, brushes, etc. that you would like to add. That's it! Here's my final result:

Or at my journal (Friends Only, though). Comment on the public post to be added, if you want.
