Ok, this is my first tutorial so hopefully it's coherent.
This tutorial works well on images with a lot of yellows that you want to tone down because of the selective coloring settings.
1. Choose your base.
2. I like to sharpen my images next. You can also wait and do it at the end, it helps make the photo more clear after all the coloring. Filter > Sharpen
3. Add a Selective Coloring layer. Image > Adjustments > Selective Coloring
*these numbers are all just a frame of reference. You can adjust them to suit your needs.
This part is just trying to bring down some of the red and yellow tones

*again this one is bringing down the yellows/reds and amping up the cyans and blacks and whites

*this brightens up the image a bit
make a point at 73 ; 91
make another at 1640 ; 90
6. Add a Hue/Saturation layer Images > Adjustments > Hue/Saturation

Saturation: +47
Greens
Sat: +43
Cyans
Sat: +53
Lightness: -17
Magentas:
Sat: +34
7. Add a Brightness/Contrast layer Image > Adjustments > Brightness/Contrast
Brightness: -38
Contrast: +20
8. Add a Color Balance layer Image > Adjustments > Color Balance
Midtones: -12 ; -7 ; +22
Shadows: -16 ; +1 ; +9
Highlights: +9 ; +5 ; -5
9. Add another Brightness/Contrast layer
Brightness: +8
Contrast: 0
10. Add another Hue/Saturation layer
Master
Sat: +8
Now you should end up with this.
