Subtle Colouring

Hey! Today I'm going to be showing you a subtle enhancement on Photoshop CS3, which can be translated, except for the last step which is optional anyway. Good luck!

original picture                         after the tutorial

001 Open up your image. I've kept my image quite large, partly for demonstration purposes and partly because I like to adjust them whilst they're bigger and resize at the last moment. My image of Mary-Kate Olsen is already coloured really nicely - I love the way Nylon colour their pictures - but we're still going to enhance it.

002 Duplicate the background layer and Image > Adjustment > Hue/Saturation:
Hue > -4
Saturation > +20
Lightness > +5

You'll obviously have to change this depending how your own image already is.

003 Set the layer to Screen, anywhere from 30 - 60%, but I chose 30%.

004 Make a colour layer and fill it with #ffdbfb. Set this layer to Soft Light at anywhere from 75 - 100%, depending on your image and tastes. I chose 95%.

005 Make a colour layer and fill it with #c6ceed. Set this layer to Colour Burn at anywhere from 80 - 100%, depending on what you want. I chose 100%.

006 Make another colour layer and fill with #919191. Set it to Colour Burn at 25%.

007 Duplicate the original, drag it to the top and set it to Screen at 10%.

008 Make a Curves layer and use the following settings:
RGB > I 48 O 35, I 212 O195
RED > I 207 O 188
GREEN > I 68 O 60, I 152 O 155
BLUE > I 65 O 66, I 190 O 179

009 Lastly, you can adjust the Exposure, although this is optional. Layer > Adjustment Layer > Exposure:
Exposure: +0.13
Offset: -0.0176
Gamma Correction: 0.93

That's all, and I hope it was useful and fun. Friend me if you liked it, I'll be adding tons more!
