This tutorial works for nearly all stock images it seems to me. Made for PhotoShop, but transferable. :) Quite simple as well. I used this for my stock post here. :D

  • Crop and resize to get your base.
  • Duplicate your base. Set it to screen at 40% opacity.
  • Duplicate your base again and drag it to the top. Set it on soft light.
  • Layer >> New Adjustment Layer >> Color Balance:
    Midtones:
    -39 -17 +64
    Shadows:
    -44 -30 -62
    Highlights:
    +10 0 +8
    Make sure "Preserve Luminosity" is checked off.
  • Layer >> New Adjustment Layer >> Curves:
    CLICK
    Set this layer on Soft Light.
  • Duplicate your Curves layer.
  • Layer >> New >> Layer.
    Fill this layer with #F2E5DB set on Multiply, opacity 40%.
  • Layer >> New Adjustment Layer >> Selective Color:
    Reds:
    -37%
    +100%
    +100%
    +30%
    Yellows:
    0%
    0%
    +78%
    0%
    Cyans:
    +100%
    0%
    +100%
    -25%
    Magentas:
    -100%
    +100%
    +100%
    +100%
  • Flatten your image and now you have a beautiful stock icon! :D
