using PS CS2
-start with your base, sharpen, duplicate it and set to softlight.
-new layer, softlight, I used the color fbaf5d. You can use whatever colour you want, depending on which effect you want. For example, you can use blue adn you would get a cold looking icon, etc.
-flatten everything, go to manage> adjustments> variations: darker, more red, more yellow
-go to manage> adjustments> hue/saturation and increase the saturation to your liking.
-I added this brush:
all done.
this depends on what sort of image you have, my picture was rather dull and lightish, so I duplicated it and made it a bit more intense. if you have a darker image I suggest setting it to screen, and if you have a lighter image, I suggest maybe duplicate it twice and set to softlight or duplicate it once and ser it to multiply.
