Tut #2

Going from
to
in 6 easy steps

This tut is made using MS Paint and PSP 10. It should be easily converted, but if you have any problems I say, improvise!

Step 1: Take this screencap made by myown_microcosm and
take a 302x302 copy of part of the image. Strange number? Naw.... Now, I took that and copied it into my program, shrinking it to 33% That will make it 100x100. Print Scrn it into paint and it'll look like

Step 2: Take your newly found base, bring that into your program, and use the target brush to turn everything but our boy's clothes b/w. You'll get

Step 3: Then, take this brush made by _joni. I took out the center of the box, leaving a 1x1 border. I then rotated it, and moved it to a spot where it would be easily seen. I then set it at Burn on 100%. So far, it should look like

Step 4: I measured the empty space in the box, and got 32x32. So, I took a 32x32 copy of his crossed fingers. No shrinking, just copied it. I put it in the box, and brought all that from paint to PSP. So far, you'll have something like

Step 5: I took this brush made by meleada, flipped it, set as a new layer, and set to Multiply 100%. Now, you'll notice it covers the boxed image, and a bit of his face. On my image, it was right over his eye, so it looked sorta cool. But... not cool enough. So, I took my eraser brush and erased almost everything that went over him. But the last squiggle looks sweet there, so I left it.

Step 6: I then wanted a slightly distorted look, so I took this texture; its maker unknown. I then set it as a new layer at Soft Light 20%. Now, the effect doesnt show up to much over his gloves in the big image, but it's much more noticable in the boxed one, so I just used my eraser brush and erased the part over the boxed area.

And our work is done!

Other icons made using this tut:

*NOTE: for my first "Other" example, for Step 5 you need to set it to Screen instead of Multiply since your brush will have to be lighter.

I'd love to se what anyone does with this tut, and if you use the icons I made, please credit me.
You dont have to credit me with this tut if you use it, but if anyone asks, please dont claim as your own!
