Today we're going to go from a blank canvas to something like this!
in just a few short steps ♥ PSP8, easily translateable. Very picture heavy because I'm horrible with words.
Skill level: Very easy, but time consuming.
Main Concepts: Line tool, paint brush, text
1. Make a new 100 x 100 image with the following settings:
... Which will give you this!
(ooh, fancy, no?)
2. Promote background layer (right click in layer palette >> Promote background layer), then make a new raster layer (Layers >> New Raster Layer).
3. Select the paint brush tool (
) and set it to the following settings:
10 pixels over from the left side, make a 1 pixel mark at the very top and bottom of the canvas in #F2BBD3, as such:
(ignore the extra writing)
4. Switch over to the pen tool (
) and set it to the following settings:
After you've done that, connect the 2 dots you drew before with a vertical line, still using #F2BBD3, which will give you something like this:
5. Make a new layer and drag it below your pink line layer. Go 10 pixels down from the top of the canvas and make a mark on each side of the canvas using #D7ECF2, which will give you this:
(you're just going to have to trust me on this one)
6. Go 4 pixels down from your original marks and make a new set of marks. Repeat this until you reach the bottom of the canvas, as such:
7. Go back to your line tool and connect your marks using the same color (#D7ECF2), as such:
See? It's a cute little piece of notebook paper! The only problem is it lacks holes! We'll fix that in the next step.
8. New layer, place it on top of all the others. Using this brush (
[Made by me, steal and I'll kick you in the face.]) in your desired transparency color, stamp it along the left side of the icon, one pixel away from the pink line, as such:
(Note: The top of the first "hole" should fall on the first blue line.)
9. New layer, place it on top of all of the other layers. Using either a dark gray (like #202020) or black, add your text in a nice handwriting font (I used SM_scriptisM, size 14, anti-aliased).
(I added the hearts to mine here, but I doubt you care.)
10. Go to Image >> Palette >> Set Palette Transparency... and change the transparency color to the color of your holes (just click them), then click OK.
11. Save it, and voila! Your own "handwritten" icon!
