B&W plus Pink Light effect for PS

Alrighty... this is my third tutorial. All textures/gradients/brushes used in this tutorial I made myself unless stated otherwise.

Learn how to go from this --->
to this --->

Create your base, like so. I'd recommend using a HQ picture.

Sharpen twice, then use the Blur tool to smooth out your subject's skin or areas of graininess.

Brighten the image by going to Image ---> Adjustments ---> Brightness/Contrast if need be. My image is set to about +10 brightness and +15 contrast. Then desaturate (Image ---> Adjustments ---> Desaturate).

Create a new layer, fill with a dark, dark blue (almost black, but not quite), and set to Exclusion 100%. Then duplicate your base layer, drag to top, and set to Soft Light 78%. Flatten the image.

Use the Rectangle Marquee tool to drag around a bit of your image (I selected Alexis' eye and a bit of her face), hit Ctrl+C to copy, and Ctrl+P to paste it as a new layer. Drag it to an "empty" space on the image. Stroke the new layer with 2px white on the inside.

Use a light brown/blue gradient, like the one below (made by me), and set it to Soft Light 100%.

Pick a gray/black/white light texture that won't cover up or obscure your subject, like the one below (also made by me), and set it to Overlay 100%.

Create a new layer and apply a black/hotpink gradient (it doesn't have to be pink... it can be any bright color), and set it to Lighten 100%.

Apply a light/lens flare brush like the one below (again, made by me... I've seen similar ones made by others, though, so you can find them anywhere) in white. Then create a new layer and make a border in white, add a Drop Shadow with a Distance of 2 and a Pixel Size of 1, and fade the opacity of the border to about 35% so it makes a see-through frame.

Add some text (the font I used is Georgia), brighten up your subject's eyes with the Dodge tool, and add a Lens Flare (Filters ---> Render ---> Lens Flare). I also added a 1px medium-gray border. And viola!

Enjoy!
