Low quality screencaps

Sep 25, 2011 15:18

Hi all, I used the KMplayer before I turned to a Macbook. So now I'm stuck with using the VLC for screencapping. I just want to know why the screencaps are so pixelated and of such low quality, and if there's no way to fix this, is there any other alternative that can be  compared to the KMplayer?

Thanks!

program: kmplayer, program: vlc player, basics: screen capture

I can really recommend GOM-Player for taking screencaps! I'm using it too and never had problems. I do make gifs a lot and they all turn out very well (well, as long as the quality of the video is HQ, of course!! ^.^).

Here are some of the gifs I did with GOM:

Your gifs are so pretty!
But GOM is only compatible with windows though :(
Thanks anyway! :D

Oh wait, I was able to download GOM for Mac, but I have no idea what to do with it now. Do you think you can help me?

Sure, no problem! ^__^

It's actually really easy.
I guess you've already installed the player?! Open the video you want to make screencaps of. On the right side at the bottom there are three buttons. Click on the middle one and a new window will open up.
Under "Video" there is an option that says: "Screen Capture". Click on it and the player will automatically make a screencap and put it in a folder.

I hope that was easy enough to understand (SORRY, I'm not too good when it comes to explaining stuff! XD)?!

If you have any questions, feel free to ask! ^__^

the program moviedek is what i use, and i really love it for screencapping. unfortunately it's a paid program (i think $10?), but there's a free trial so you can see if you like it enough to pay the money for the full version. it does automatic screencapping and it's very simple to use. i haven't been able to find another program that does what i wanted it to do when it comes to screencaps, so i just gave in and bought it because VLC never worked well for me for screencaps ):
