Huh. That's odd. First, is your new laptop running a newer version of Windows than the old one? Even if it's the same, it's possible it doesn't have all the same updates installed; there's a Windows update here that you can install to improve the compatibility of PSP 8 with Windows Vista and 7, though I don't know if that will fix this particular problem.

Another thing you could try is to see what happens when you click the 'Edit Selected Script' button. In theory, it should give you a dialog box listing all the individual stages in the script and allow you to edit some of them from there. Or if the program can't read it well enough to do that, it may give you an error message and just open the script as a text file. If you post a screencap or the text of the script I'll see if I can spot what might by causing the problem, although I don't know PSP's scripting language very well so I can't promise much.

both are running windows 7. i tried the update but it says it's not applicable to my computer so i'm assuming that the update has already been installed.

the edit script button gives another error and this is what pops up. thanks so much for trying to help! this is extremely frustrating haha

please don't line out your post. just editing the beginning of the post to indicate your problem is solved is sufficient. thx.
