This was a good tut because I rarely (if ever) use Grain Extract so it's cool to see the effect of the function. I still don't get the connection between picking gradient colors and the final result so I'll have to test it a bit but your explanation helped get me started :) Thanks for taking the time to do this!

no problem! As for the gradient colors, for instance if you use blue, the icon will have a blue-ish tint, or, like with the icon I made the tutorial with, the red in the gradient made the icon overall more red. It's just a matter of what overall color you want it to be pretty much :) Or you can just experiment with all different colors until you find an effect you like.

Ah, okay. For some reason I thought it would be more complicated. Like, if there's a lot of color X, use a gradient of color Y to balance it out. ~is off to experiment :)

Thanks for posting this, I've never used Gradiant Maps before and I really like the result :)

Thanks so much for introducing the High Pass Technique and the Gradient Map to me! I never use them but I LOVE the effects they give!

I'm new to GIMP (but have background in photoshop) and I just wanted to say that this was a great tutorial, easy for me to follow and the icon I made looked just like yours (which made me excited, let me tell you), so thank you!
