Change GIF shape

I'm trying to take a gif made from a video (rectangular shaped) and cut it down into a square so that it can become a lj icon. Does anyone know how to crop it?
I don't use any photoshop or anything, just free programs, like Microsoft GIF animator and stuff.

No idea if this exists, but hope you can help
