Help - Animation - CS4

Aug 27, 2010 17:28

I have been struggling with this for a while.

I'm using CS4 to try to make an animation. Therefore, of course, I go to import -> Video Frames to Layers, and pull up the file I want to. Then I get to the selection box, but when there, there's no video shown, so selecting the time range in which I want it to take caps from is very difficult.

yeah same here but i didn't find a solution. i remember someone saying that it had to be a certain type of movie file. i usually use kmp to cap the part of clip i want and then import them into photoshop.
maybe someone will have a better answer for you

Ugh, thank you! I didn't like KMP when I tried it originally, but maybe I'll have to try it again. Does KMP work on macs, or is that a windows only thing?

The file you're using is probably not encoded right. You could try saving it as a MOV file with QuickTime X (assuming that you're running Snow Leopard). If it's a big file, I would trim (command+t) the file to the scene you want. Go to File > Save For Web and select Computer for Export Versions. It will create a folder in your Movies folder (you can change the destination before saving if you wish) and within the folder there should be a MOV version of the file.

If you're not running Snow Leopard, you can screencap the scene with VLC.

Re: Snow Leopard: I'm not sure. I got my computer in May, so unless Snow Leopard came installed, I don't have it.

And I have tried capping with VLC before. It's my primary video player. However, despite following several tutorials, my caps don't show up.

Since you got it in May, you should definitely have it.

VLC: It's weird that the caps aren't showing up. Did you set a destination folder for the caps? If there is no folder set, they should save to your Pictures folder.

this is actually a very frequently asked question, so if you go back through the animation tags, you'll find it answered. (sorry, i'm in a bit of a rush and don't have time to link directly to a post that will help.)
