Photoshop CS5

Again I'm having trouble with my program (I use Photoshop CS 5). When I save a PSD I name them accordingly (BASE - Photobox L.A. (1), BASE - Photobox L.A. (2) ect.) so that way when I save them as PNG files, they already have a name. However, when I went to work on my second icon batch, went to Save As then selected .png as the format on a file ( Read more... )

For your second problem, you probably should have checked the FAQ post helpfully provided at the side of the comm :P

http://community.livejournal.com/icon_tutorial/1027451.html

(specifically: FAQ Part III: Common Problems -- "My font is huge even when I set it to 2 point! (Also, my font is tiny even when I set it to 200 point!)")

And for Problem 1 -- why not just name them whatever is convenient at the time, and then use Bridge to do a batch rename? It's how I name screencaps and whatnot.

When I crop each image, I save it as a PSD file so that I can go back and resize, add text, textures you name it, and each one has a different name but when I am getting ready to save the finished icons as .png files, they change to the same name each time. So I have to save one .png file then go back and rename it to match it's corresponding PSD file before I can continue or else they'll just overwrite eachother.

Would using Bridge fix that?

I...sorry, I really don't get what you're doing :/ It's possible the name you save them in is recognized by Windows as a "duplicate file" (because that IS typically how Windows [assuming you're using that OS] renames duplicates, by just placing (#) at the end) and retags it without the number.

Maybe try revamping your system? Or like I said, give them arbitrary names and just use Bridge to batch rename--it's WAY easier.

problem 1: that's just the way the program behaves...if you want the *(x)* there, you'll just need to add it. not really that big a deal.

problem 2: fencer_x pointed out our faq. we encourage everyone to check there first before posting with a problem.

problem 3: google. since CS5 is so new, that's you're best bet for finding a 'how to' guide. of course, there's always the program's help menu which contains a wealth of information. also, the support area of adobe's website can be very helpful.

about the text size.. when you crop your icons, make sure to set the resolution to 72. Higher resolution on web-friendly images = problem with viewing correct text size.
