Yeah, I am from SPNP XD

Ughhh, I know. Everyone suggest KMplayer and I'm like "kjehrbfslreybfyaerg THEY DON'T HAVE A MAC VERSION" There has to be another program I can use. Someone told me about a program that would've work except you had to put int he frames you wanted it to cap like frames 100 through 200 but how the hell am I supposed to know what frames I want? time wise, sure, but not the numbers of the frames.

amen.

i'm surprised at how hard it is to find stuff to cap on a mac.

Thats one major downfall of apple/macs though (at least for us fanartists) is that you have to really jump through hoops to be able to cap shit because of their stupid protection on dvds.

I have no clue why it's so hard. It can't possibly be this hard! ::throws tantrum::

It's ridiculous because Apples are supposed to be useful for graphics. I just don't understand why Photoshop doesn't support any of the Apple geared videos (like mp4). Photoshop's a monster of a product used mainly by graphic designers and photographer that these days, hello, have Macs. Get with it Adobe!

I have no problems giffing things I have downloaded like episodes of shows but I can't get things off YouTube ::cries::

there's a way to make gifs straight from the video in photoshop. I used this tutorial (and am also on a mac). I think the mp4 will open in the program.

Hope that helps. :)

PS: Woot SPNP! :D

I do make gifs in Photoshop, that's why I need the video in a format Photoshop will open. Unfortunately MP4 will not open in Photoshop. The file formats that PS will open is very, very limited.

CS4 should open .mp4 files. are you using the most current version of quicktime?

Well, it's not letting me open any .mp4 files. I thought I did but I'm checking to see if there's an upgrade now. What's Quicktime have to do with whether PS will open it?

Oh and to be clear, I mean I'm doing import video frames.

honestly, i'm not sure which version CS4 needs....easiest just to be sure you've got the most current version. ;)

adobe uses the quicktime engine to handle video files. hence the need for quicktime in order to open them. you can open flv files with PS, but only if you have abode flash professional installed as well.

Well I've got QT 10 and the one of Apple's page is 7, so I'm gonna assume I have the newest version.

Have you installed Perian? That should help with opening other video types. What version of Mac OS X are you running? I see that you're running QuickTime X. After installing Perian, you should be able to open the files and save them as MOV files, which you'll then be able to open with Photoshop.

Yes, I have the latest version of Perian installed, yet that doesn't seem to make a single difference.

Open the files and save them at .mov where? Through QuickTime?

file\save as. default should save as .mov w/ the 'save as a self-contained movie' radio button selected.

Open the file in QuickTime and go to File > Save As and choose Movie as the Format.
