optimizing transparent images for web

May 01, 2010 18:58

i'm building a website, and some of my images are wayyyy too big in file size, but i can't seem to optimize any of the transparent images without losing quality.

any ideas on how to fix the problem?

i'm using photoshop cs and/or fireworks cs4, if that would be any help to you guys!

basics: image file formats, program: photoshop

have you tried .pngs? Though those can run big, too.

or can you make the background the same color as the images?

the files are in png, and i can't make the background the same color as the other images, because they're entirely different things. one's cork and the other is paper. :[
