I'm on a bit of a tutorial making spree. This tutorial was made using PS.
If you want to see how I made this icon:
1. Okay, so I started off with this picture (from scarlettjohannsen.com):
I cropped it to 100x100, sharpened it, and then duplicated the layer once. I also used a bit of burn and dodge on the original's skin.
I set the duplicate layer to soft light and 89%.
In between those two layers, make a new layer and fill it in with a dark blue (#022853). Set that layer to exclusion at 100%.
So your layer pallete should look like this:
and you should have something like this:
2. So now, add this gradient on top, and set it to Lighten at 80%.
3. Then I added this brush:
in #201C37, and set it to soft light at 80%.
4. Add the gradient below, and set it to lighten at 100%.
5. Add this brush on top, set to lighten and 100% (shown on white to see):
6. Then I added these two brushes:
set to normal at 30%.
7. Then this gradient was added on top:
set to soft light at 30%.
8. After that, this gradient was added on:
set to soft light at 90%.
9. This brush was then added on (in white, shown on black so you can see it):
set to normal at 100%.
10. Then these brushes (again, showed on black to see):
set it to normal at 30%.
11. This sparkly brush was added on:
set to normal at 100%.
12. I added a bit of text in white in the corner:
set to normal at 70%.
13. At last, I added this border brush (in white):
set to normal, 100%.
But we're still not done!
Then I merged all the layers, and raised the contrast to what I liked (image>>adjustments>>contrast).
Finally, you should get something similar to this:
All the brushes used can be found at my
resources page.
Sorry for this being so long, but I hope you understood everything. If you have any questions, just ask.
