Tutorial: Supernatural

May 04, 2009 17:02

9thsymphony requested a tut for this icon from my last post. I had a bit of spare time, so I decided to go for it instead of just being a slacker and posting the .psd like I usually do.

As always, do not copy this exactly (with or without the same cap) and post as your own. This is meant to give technique pointers only; it is not meant to be a template.

Thanks for these. I have a question...
How d u choose the color? I mean since your first selective color layer u were working with a sort of pink-ish color right?
The psd file its not working by the way.

Color? I just kinda play it by ear, really. Usually, if there's a lot of one color, I work with tweaking that color... e.g. there was a lot of yellow in the original image for this icon, so I worked tweaking the yellows in selective coloring (and ditto for the whites, since there was a lot of white). As for removing the yellow and adding magenta, that's just something I do with the yellow spectrum a lot.

And the .psd works just fine for me. Is it not downloading or just not opening? either way, both work on my end (I just tested). Maybe you have an incompatible photoshop? mine is CS2.
