July 1st means it's time for round 9 of Ask the Maker here at icon_talk!

Here you'll get the chance to ask icon makers who sign up questions about their icons and other graphics. The second one actually has brushes and not textures. I have a lot of paint brushes like these. I just use them in separate colors and layers above the subject :)
The firs one is a texture where the background was black, so it's just putting them on Screen and voila :)

Ooh, using brushes for that hadn't occurred to me. I think I even have some (if I can find them again :)). I'll definitely try that!

This is a thing I've always wondered when I look at your awesome PSDs; when you're working with your gradients to color things, how do you decide which kind of gradient/coloring you want to start off with for your base coloring?

Idk, hah. I just try all kinds of gradients and see which fit the best. Though if I'm combining colors, I like to use complementary ones. :)
