So, let's begin.
If we are being real, I should probs say that all my icons start with the idea that they'll have text. When people have asked me to do them icons of things I do not watch, I panicked, because I knew there was an 70% chance that I'll want to stick text to it (actually, most of the icons I have done for capchallenge that are of fandoms I don't know... have text). So, basically, I just think everything needs text unless it proves it doesn't not. If anything, I actually pay more attention to which caps I'm using when I KNOW I'm NOT using text, because I know I want to focus on something else (whcih doesn't always mean I won't end up putting text to it either lol ( ... )

So with that said, here comes the part where you wonder if I'm drunk, but I hope my personal view on this helps a little? It's nt exactly tips, or precises tips at least, but more of a ~~text feels declaration.
Text has personality. It asks as much as it gives. It becomes a very important piece of the icon most times.
like this & this. They are two completely different icons imo. the whole focus of it changes. Imo, and maybe this doesn't show with what I was thinking or the results, but but whatever, imo, the textless versions focus on the emotion, the raw emotion and nothing else, while the icon with text focus on the story. it's big and there, it sorta even washes the emotion out of her face (which was the reason I decided to keep the textless one). So it's very important imo to take into consideration where and what I want from text, because it can become too overpowering, or it can just look like a last thought addition ( ... )

Just a question though, would you rather have a full tutorial or just a focus on the colouring and texture use aspects? (Not like I'm not gonna do that on the full one, but yeah, it's two ways to go... so yeah, I hope you get what I mean lol).
