I worked for several years at a famed retailer that has a parade every year on an American holiday. This store's return policies were so liberal that items that were clearly worn (practially worn OUT) were permitted to be returned. The side effect of this is that the customers who figured this out expected it from other companies... and said they wouldn't shop at those other retailers unless they got their satisfaction.
It is a "service" industry, and "the customer is always right," but you're right, of course. People just feel they have a God give right to abuse everyone working in the system.
I think everyone who is abusive should have to work a solid week in retail during this time of year. It might change some opinions. At least your post should be Xeroxed and handed out at the entrance to every mall and store!

But seriously, this is being boasted as one of the most important holiday seasons of our generation. Why cloud it up with the same old garbage? What happened to peace and good will towards men? It seems to have become a piece of good will if you will give me a discount. What makes each individual person feel as if he or she is more important than the last thirty customers that you have serviced that hour?
I hope I reached at least one person in that post. If not, it sure did feel wonderful to get it out and posted.
