Before we left for Hawaii (nearly two months ago now), I promised updates on a number of things. It’s becoming clear to me that it’s more than a single post, so here’s part one: new furniture!
Thanks! We have an old Mission-style Morris chair which needs some ::ahem:: attention (rather than brass rod-n-notches, it has a pushbutton mechanism--which doesn't work; and is missing the footrest). I've been wondering whether we could at least retrofit it with the brass fittings....

I did ask & his first recommendation was to contact Stickley directly -- apparently they'll fix pretty much anything they sell. They're at stickley.com. If your chair isn't a Stickley, he suggested you find a dealer that does handle their stuff, as such a dealer may have contacts with folks who fix it; or a reliable dealer in used/restored furniture. I suppose that you could also try tracking down your original manufacturer, in similitude to the first idea. He's a VA boy born & bred, so didn't have any specific ideas for your neck of the woods.

If, in your explorations, you come across someone who repairs Morris chairs (or at least has spare parts), I'd be grateful for a pointer :-)
