She's always been a magical girl.

It's tradition, really: when Halloween rolls around, Ichigo trots out the glitter and sparkles and charms and transforms herself into the cutest little magical girl anyone's ever seen. It's not enough to just copy whichever series is popular, no -- that wouldn't suit her darling image at all. She invents her latest look, truly turns herself into a lovely little superheroine, with long, flowing locks and impossibly charming dresses adorned with all manner of trinkets.

Last year, for instance, she was all cotton-candy pink and white, pastel hair brushing past her ankles in perfect little curls. In lieu of any tiara, a neatly tied velvetine ribbon pinned with a silver-edged ruby rested just below her antenna, and her sparkly princess's gown was pearly and lilac and cherry blossom pink all at once, iridescent folds swirling and swaying as she waved her elegant wand about.

This year, however, her costume's... different.

The ribbons and ruffles of rich rose aren't all that unusual; it's the black bodysuit they compliment that makes them seem strange. Normally she wears her trademark strawberry suit underneath, but this time, the green tights are nowhere in sight, replaced by simple, sleek black. No charms adorn her wrists or ankles, no bangles or bracelets, merely long, fingerless gloves, baring bright red underneath.

Her hair, once again, is ornately done up, but this time the cerise-colored locks are caught up in tight braids, pulled back and collected together. Strands of amaranth blossoms are woven here and there, to try and catch the eye, draw attention to the simple ebony tiara nestled there.

More startling, however, are the twin daggers resting at her sides. Seemingly carved from ebony themselves, the blades curl in matching crescents, hanging neatly by her hips, ready and waiting. A far cry from her normal wands, bows and hammers.
