LOL, I don't think he's strangling her XDD ...I think it's a scene right before his arm goes around her completely. This is probably the scene right after he pulls out zangetsu and she fell into his arms ♥

. . . to me it sort of looks like she collapsed and he put his arm around her so she didn't collapse to the ground. and the whole scene will take 3 seconds.
