Well, yesterday I decided that fate was telling me to take that Civic Engagement class I was interested in. During my Diversity class, the instructor teaching the Civic class came in to tell us about it. Turns out it's a brand new class for a brand new Civic Engagement certificate that the university is offering, and it really did sound

I like the idea of a class that requires you to do volunteer work! Hopefully students will be motivated to put in more than the 15 hours. ^_^

I haven't done that kind of volunteer work in too long. I used to really enjoy working at the soup kitchen. There was such a neat mix of people who volunteered there, everyone from church ladies to hippies to people who were "volunteered" by the courts (i.e. community service for some misdemeanor). And we all got along, had fun, and fed people. ^_^
