Well, the ice and cold seem to be over for now. Yesterday was the only day that it was really bad - I became a human hockey puck when I skidded on the ice (I swear, it looked dry!) and then bounced back up. My first thought was "Is my camera okay?" and then "OMG, did anyone see me?!" I landed mostly in the grass, and I hit the side of my behind ( Read more... )

Black ice is scary stuff! Fortunately I've never fallen badly enough to have anything but my pride damaged... I usually just laugh because you feel so ridiculous. I really like the picture of the grass!

Just out of curiosity - what kind of camera do you use?

That's exactly what I did. After the initial "eep!" and "OMG CAMERA OKAY?!" I kinda sat there and giggled. I like how the grass looked too! It was all crunchy sounding walking through it, which is something that people over here aren't used to unless there's a drought and we're in the middle of summer.

I use a Nikon CoolPix P90.

The grass is usually all dead by the time it gets cold enough to get frosted up - so you don't usually get that contrast between the green and the ice!

Cool! I'm a Nikon girl too! I have a really old Coolpix that is my carry-around camera that has served me well for a long time now.
