I haven't been posting because I haven't had the energy, but in short, my medical saga continues. Three days ago (two? Four? Time runs together here) I was diagnosed with something called acute kidney injury. In other words, my kidneys were overwhelmed by one of the drugs I'd been getting, probably one of the IV antibiotics, and I have to stay in ( Read more... )

I'm not going to be responding to every individual comment from the last couple weeks, but just wanted to let you know that they were very much appreciated while I was in the hospital! Really hoping this will all just become a bad memory with no lingering effects very, very soon.

Oh, wow, I had no idea. They gave me Zofran as often as I wanted/needed it. And I got some phenergan as well at one point when it was really bad. They said that phenergan was more potent, but couldn't be taken as often, which I guess was why Zofran was preferred. I liked the grape taste of that little pill. :)

Thanks for all your comments from the last couple weeks. I probably won't respond to all of them, but just wanted to let you know that they were very much appreciated while I was in the hospital! Really hoping this will all just become a bad memory with no lingering effects very, very soon.

*hugs carefully*

I hope you feel better soon, hun. Wish I was closer so I could stand guard at your door for stray med students.

I can just see you with a sword and shield at the hospital door, barring entry to all chipper little students with the short white coats. :)

Hooray for freedom from the heart monitor! Now to get those kidneys back on track...

Is there any sign of infection still, or are you out of the danger zone on that? Thank God for modern medicine and for health insurance. Will continue to pray and send good vibes your way. Looking forward to your post where you tell us you are home and starting to feel better again!

Let me tell you, freedom from the heart monitor was amazing. I got to wash my hair for the first time in a week, and do a more intensive sponge bath (avoiding the PICC line site in my arm). More accurately, my mom had to do all of these things for me, but you know. My hair had never been so greasy, and I had never felt cleaner ( ... )
