...If this means Tegan shows up on new!Who at some point, I might actually have to watch that episode.

(I loved her because she was so unlovable, okay? Also, I'm pretty sure I'd react a lot like her if I stumbled into the TARDIS and had to travel with the Doctor for years.)

Tegan was awesome - and continues to be so on audio. Plus, Janet Fielding is hilarious. She's the best part of pretty much every DVD extra she's in, and her cameo in "The Five-ish Doctors (reboot)" is brilliant.

I'm gushing, but yes. There is no shame in loving Tegan. And this is the first thing that could possibly make me excited for the new season.

Tegan and Charley are locked in an eternal battle for "Favorite Companion," I think. Romana sometimes fights her way in there as well.

THIS. Tegan rocks. Though, boy, if you'd ever asked me which (surviving) classic companion was least likely to make an appearance, it would have to be Tegan. She was so anti-Who for a while that we almost didn't get McGann as Eight!

I haven't heard any of her audios, but will have to check them out. I think there are newer ones with Turlough, too, which I also need to explore. :)

Yeah, Janet Fielding had a turnaround of her feelings on the show a few years ago. In audio extras, she now says that she didn't feel it would be right to be performing herself for Big Finish while she was also representing actors. It's a classy explanation, whatever her actual reason was at the time. She's apparently been fighting cancer for a while now, so I wonder if that was part of the change ( ... )
