Dear God, how is that song appropriate for a six-year-old to sing?

That was in fact ALL I could think of! LOL!

Why were none of the parents in the audience even grimacing a little?!

I dunno; I didn't buy the purity of Avery's motives. The end, when he introduced himself to Watty, felt to me like the show tipping his hand, him realizing he could use his gf to propel himself to a level he couldn't get to on his own.

It also frustrated me that he didn't tell Scarlett she could do it, she's amazing, she should have faith in herself; he said to do it for HIM.

Which reinforces the massive problems I have with her given how utterly beholden she is to a man. UGH.

SO MUCH THIS! I was surprised Rayna let them, given her feeling about Juliette's music, too.

Probably we weren't supposed to. Whoever that actor is just can't quite pull off devious for me, though, so I bought him as a halfway decent young man. (Also, I really want to like this show, so I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt and assuming it didn't go for the obvious characterization of Avery-as-asshole.)

I think this show would be much stronger if they axed Scarlett, Gunnar, and Avery entirely.

I wonder if she even knew. For some reason, I got the impression their song choice was supposed to be a surprise. But I wasn't paying a whole lot of attention during the scene where they were trying on clothes from her closet; maybe they said something then.
