Discofox. Exactly what it sounds like.In the "related videos" with footage from the championships, I'm having trouble telling it apart from hustle. The steps in the linked video, though, are very obviously indebted to foxtrot. Just...done to disco music. My brain kind of hurts right now ( Read more... )

Now, see, I should've known because its you posting it and stuff, but when you said "Discofox. Exactly what it sounds like," I was all "Cool! A fox doing disco!" and was actually kind of disappointed when it turned out to be normal people dancing, with no small furry mammals in site.

Apparently, this is my brain on Sports Night (which involves aaaaall sorts of random jumping from subject to subject and no few outrageous leaps to conclusions if you've never seen the show). Maybe I've ODed on it a bit the last few days...

I too would like to see a fox dancing to disco music. (Although I probably would've said "discoing fox" had I found that clip.)

Tango hustle? Wow.

I actually like the usual hustle a lot. My two closest ballroom dancing friends in college were fans of it, and one of those friends (my most frequent dance partner) learned some more advanced moves on his own that he taught to us. It is kind of cheesy, I guess, but I like that it's...kind of like a smoother version of east coast swing, almost. Vaguely.

Heh. I love that XKCD comic and its take on Wikipedia -- I recently had to research some basic country facts on various states for copytexts at work, and I ended up boring my co-workers with anecdotes about the most famous writer from Djibouti or mutual unintelligibility among various Chinese dialects.
