Celebrants really only have to say a few specific things (the more legal stuff).
If you have a concept of how your marriage proceeds, anybody can read the parts about "Do you take this person" or whatever it is you want, with the celebrant chiming in with their bit.
Dean and Sarah had a good friend of theirs (with a rather excellent speaking voice) do most of the talking. He read what they wrote and some things he wrote, and the whole thing was rather fantastic, actually.
We recently got "legally" married at the Victorian Marriage Registry at the Old Treasury Building on Spring St. We just signed up at the registry office on Collins St and they assigned someone. Turns out she was great! :)
Her name was Maria Nicola. Really nice, clearly LOVED weddings, and totally not religious!
sweet... that is an option we've looked at.. just though it'd be nice to have a recommendation / someone partial to our community... but eep. time is not our friend right now.. :D
