givingintopeerpressure:

Alright, so something really fucking weird has happened to me today, and all because I tweeted my disappointment at Pete Wentz’s music and his attitude during an after show, which had nothing to do with the rest of his band.

First of all I think this is ridiculous that I have to go out of my way and reply to this, but after ( Read more... )

Shit got crazy ridiculous pretty damn fast. Heaven forbid either the lady or Pete have an opinion, but death threats to either are cool? >:T

Shame to people who thought that Pete has an "attitude" problem just because he prefers to meet people organically and doesn't feel obligated to meet every single person after a show. It's doubtful they'd be able to leave on time if that was the case. The band usually tweets when they can't make it for whatever reason, I guess Pete assumed that most fans would recognize that his DJ sets are different territory than a show.

Also, while Joe's post backing up Pete was nice enough, I'm afraid both Pete and Joe (mostly Joe in my eyes) might have confused some younger fans into thinking that they shouldn't meet the bands after shows which is TOTALLY NOT THE CASE. Eh, wording, internet, whatever. I would hope that Joe recognizes that most fans have reasons for wanting to meet a band besides autographs or a picture (ideally).

Biggest issue with this is that they forget that they started it. They were the ones who used to hang outside after shows trying to talk to anyone that had been there in the hopes of converting them into a fan - to sell merch in order to cover their expenses on the road. That's how I would meet and chat to them for the first couple of year,s and I'm sure for others it was the same ( ... )

The expectation that they are forever going to be the band in your back pocket isn't fair to them. As any artist grows and more people start to take notice of them, it will become harder and harder to hang out after a show to say hi. Whether it be because of time restraints or safety (theirs and fans) or even because of the venue (venue security/staff has not been happy about fans milling about after these shows and has threatened to call the cops at multiple shows). Just because they did it when they were smaller doesn't mean it's something one should expect them to do forever. It's unfair to them ( ... )
