Mod post

1. We have a tumblr. Much like the twitter account, we don't use it that much. But sometimes Pete posts things for two minutes at 3AM when most east coasters are asleep, insomnia mod's on a plane home from Italy and I'm somewhere in the mountains of Pennsylvania like two miles outside of Altoona (not my destination, but fun to say) and I can reblog ( Read more... )

Thanks for the info! And seriously the "street team" made me wary when before ANYTHING had actually started they were already switching team leaders.

Seriously. We've hit the "fuck this shit, we're taking over" point. Let us run your street team. We'll do it in exchange for the resources.

The fact that it has been documented numerous times that ICH had news before OCK and FOBRock tells me that this place will run an AWESOME street team

I've got talented friends and ICHers are smart. I've got the server space to host the images and I can usually figure things out enough to run the websites. I figure if we can get enough people involved for it to actually be a team, it'll be so much more useful than an e-mail telling people to "spread the word about the tour." I've been on other street teams with forums where people could actually brain storm together and talk to their team leader. It's actually a team and it makes people feel like they're part of something.

I am stoked for this street team idea. I've gotten... two emails, maybe three.

One was an intro to the team.
Second was "kthxbai" from one lead.
Third was "oh haaai" from the new one.

So I'm glad to hear you guys are gonna like, run it. :3

Also. Are there going to be like, a 'meet up' sort of post once the Black Cards tour starts? I wouldn't mind meeting folks at the Portland, OR show... I'll be by myself...

Yeah, those second and third emails were really useful.

We're going to try. It's more to help everyone else out. It doesn't take much effort for some people to throw together a few simple forum signature promoting the tour, but not everyone is handy with photoshop. I know some street teams provide promo packs people can download to help them promote the band and that's kind of what we want to do to start. And then we'll work our way up to posters and stickers.

Mods aren't venturing that far out, but we can do a meet up post for OR or a general meet up post to help people plan meet ups for their show closer to March. Remind me when we get closer to March. I'm old and lose track of time. ;)

WOO. I'm just getting more stoked for this street team idea.

And yea. I thought like, maybe just a generalized 'meet up' post before start of tour? Different 'cuts' for different dates to see if certain folks are coming. I didn't think the mods would be out this far west, since it seems most, if not all, y'all are located mid west/east coast. :3 Thank you~

:D That's what we want. We want people excited to be a part of it. They're more likely to participate that way than if it's just one way communication from a leader who is pretty much anonymous.

I'd love to keep following the tour, but limited vacation time and money. Plus that much time in the car might actually drive me crazy. We'll definitely help as much as can with meet ups for shows we won't be at.

I can fake it well enough that it appears like I have my shit together. ;) I had a lot of teamwork and supervisor type training at work and a lot that can easily be applied here. People tend to respond better to a leader that's out on the floor with them than one that's holed up in their office and only pops their head out every so often to bark orders. I'm not saying we're any sort of leader, I want this to be a group effort more than I want it to be mods and their ducklings or whatever, but how the official street team is being run is more leader in the office poking their head out to give orders every full blue moon while we all wander around clueless as to what to do.

:)

People are going to be more motivated to participate if they feel like they're part of something and if you give them more than "go spread the word about the tour." That's super vague. I've seen other street teams give people downloadable promo packs. It's not that difficult to throw together a few simple graphics for people to use as forum signatures and with how popular tumblr is, you're missing a super easy way to promote by not giving your street team a few easy to reblog graphics. Not everyone can get out to hang posters up, especially the younger fans, so stuff like that makes them feel like they're a part of them team and builds loyalty.
