Luxury Suite at the Roosevelt Hotel -- Emma's Manhattan -- Late Late Thursday Night

Mar 04, 2010 19:51

When they got back to the hotel, Emma was positively giddy. She'd gotten them two-bedroom luxury suites at the Roosevelt Hotel, and ordered up oodles of desserts and drinks from room service.

"Now that is what I call a party," she laughed, popping open a bottle of champagne. "Here's to us, gentlemen."

//Mmm,// Jono replied, content to linger near the wall, putting some distance between himself and the food. And the champagne. And the like. //And to th'fall of the Sentinels before they've even had a chance to rise.//

Not that he thought for a moment that they'd completely put an end to the Sentinel project. But any setbacks they could cause, particularly ones in the range of 'three million in diamonds,' were nice.

"Don't be grumpy, darling, we deserve to celebrate," Emma chided. "Pick a dessert, Jonothon. You deserve a night of indulging yourself."

Jono hesitated for a moment at that, looking back and forth between Emma and the dessert tray before giving his shoulders a shrug and pointing toward what looked like it was possibly the richest, most sickeningly chocolatey piece of cheesecake that had ever existed.

Well, she'd said to indulge.

//That one, then,// he replied, looking back to Emma. //Even if I do manage 'grumpy' like a professional.//

It was his thing.

Emma just laughed and grabbed a fork, raising it in a toast. "For you, then. You ought to be glad I'm not on a diet."

George was not sure this was what he called a party. He couldn't help thinking of the Dove and th' lasses there. The boys celebrating and once in a while gettin' a nod or a smile from th'Rogue and his Court.

But this wasn't bad a'tall.

"Ye definitely delivered on that promise," George said. "More than ye expected to, aye?"

"Maybe a bit," Emma allowed. "And more than Beka may be pleased with, so we won't mention that last little bit."

Somehow, Emma thought that George might want to avoid that lecture as much as she did.

He snorted as he raised an eyebrow at Emma. "Oh, but I so often do go runnin' t'nearest Dog t'tell them of me indiscretions," he agreed. "Really? Y'don' think I should be tellin' Beka?"

"Well, more along the lines of not saying anything if you don't know where that cat of hers is," Emma answered, making a face. "Pounce may be a cat of uncommonly good sense, but I don't think he'd hesitate to blackmail me for fish."

"To us," Jack agreed, and held his glass out to be filled. "I've never had such a good time committing a felony."

He realized, with a twinge of conscience, that this was yet another adventure he wouldn't tell Sebastien about. He was racking those up lately.

They'd been Doing Good! Of course he could tell Sebastien! ...Although Emma doubted that the Detective would be thrilled with her for pulling his ward into a den of iniquity.

"I'm thrilled, darling," she replied, pouring the champagne for him, although her tone wasn't as warm as it usually was. 'We were marvelous."

Sebastien might just have a little problem with anything where Jack might get arrested.

"You're a good actress," Jack said, trying to remind her that was all he had done. Acting.

"You only have yourself to blame for that, getting me involved with that community drama group," Emma declared loftily.
