Change. Change never changes.

It's funny - now that everyone is ditching LJ for various other new, less text based ways of communicating, I'm returning to it. Every few years, I get explosive urges to write. I still don't write particularly well, but I think it's always something that comes spilling out when I know I'm in a situation that needs change.

I'm sticking with LJ for various reasons. Mostly because Facebook is blocked here at work, and Twitter is just annoying as all fuck.

I hear also about Tumblr, but really . . . does anyone need anything more than Facebook and LJ for social networking crap?

Twitter's fine, but everyone whines too much on it (myself included).

Tumblr seems to fulfil a different purpose entirely, but LJ still seems like the best place to actually write something more than a line or two!

While I miss the glory days of LJ when it was THE way to stay in touch (and, frankly, just as capable of almost everything FaceBook and Google+ are), one nice effect of lesser sites like Twitter and Facebook is that LJ is now a pretty good source for high quality content. If people still bother to post on LJ, it's because they have real, honest thoughts they want to put down.

It's definitely quiet on LJ these days, but I do agree that there's been a spike in quality content in general, when people bother to post. I feel like everyone's attention-span online is getting shorter. A bit of a shame, really.
