When it happens, it’s an ordinary day. Or as ordinary as their days can be.

Jensen’s in a rush, having to catch a flight down to Cali to meet up with is agent and he’s desperately searching for his passport. The taxi will be there in a minute and all that’s missing is his damn passport.
Jared will stay here, taking care of Sadie’s yearly shots and wanting to work on the house a little. Their days have been long and dragging lately. The ending rush of the season is drawing to a close and they are both exhausted beyond belief.

Jensen’s riffling through the drawers in the hallway for a second time, cursing loudly and with one ear listening for the taxi. Jared’s not really helpful, sitting in the living room and laughing his ass off.

“How about some help, douchebag?” Jensen growls and he knows he’s over the top. But he’s stressed out and tired and so not in the mood to meet anybody about business and career plans. Because thinking about his career means thinking about his future. That means thinking about the end of the show and Jensen is not ready to that.

His heart skips every time he dares to let thoughts slip free. Thoughts about going back to L.A., living in his lonely, empty house and then only ever meeting up with Jared when they have time off.

“Focus, Jensen,” Jared grins and is right there. So close, and if Jensen was even more pathetic than he already is, he would think something along the lines of so close and still so far away. But since he isn’t, there's not reason to dwell on it. Not yet anyway.

“Fuck off. You are no help and I needed to find this damn thing yesterday.”

Jared just laughs and then presents him with his passport.

“Did you have that all this time? Was it funny watching me run around like a headless chicken? You are an ass, Jared Padalecki,” Jensen huffs and knows he’s pouting. See it in the reflection of himself in Jared’s bright eyes.

“Dude, chill. Found it just now, under your bag on the side table,” Jared’s voice is full of laughter and Jensen would find it annoying if it he wasn’t already totally gone for his best friend.

So Jensen continues to flail around the hallway until Jared grans him by the shoulders, tells him to breathe and then just pulls him in for a hug. That’s when the taxi honks and Jensen has another reason to curse.

“Your keys,” Jared says, hands them over, then holds out Jensen’s bag to him and last but not least wraps Jensen’s scarf around him.

“Thank you. See in two days. Have a good weekend,” Jensen says then leans in, kisses Jared and walks out the door.

It’s only when he’s standing in the line to board that Jensen realizes what exactly happened. But then it’s too late to do anything about it. Jensen’s not looking forward to the flight and the hours he’ll have to freak out.

He checks his cell one last time before he has to turn it off and almost chokes on his laughter when he read’s Jared’s message.

Stop freaking out. And don’t deny it. I know you. So stop it. All is fine, Jense. Can’t wait to have you back here. This was not a proper kiss, dude. Also, I kissed back.

Jensen’s heart skips again but this time he doesn’t mind. He suspects that the grin he sports the entire flight creeps the flight attendant out a little but Jensen doesn’t care. He couldn’t stop it anyway, even if he wanted to.

As far as first kisses go, this one wasn’t spectacular at all but it means everything to him. It's a beginning and that's all he could have ever hoped for.
