Really? But she kind of killed the vampire-phile in the first book of Anita Blake right? Never to rise again to vampire hood? Right? I wouldn't know since i don't follow it.

Kitto yeah. Possible. Barinthus, Doyle, galen, Rhys... Maybe even Frost... forever...not the babies because they're not emotionally attached to LKH just to Merry. If you come across saying it's Doyle... hmmmmmmm..... do I want to steel myself or do I want to be devastated before I read the book? Tell me. I'd like to know. I'd still read the book anyway.

True, Galen has only done 2-3useful things in the entire series.

*sigh* yeah. Lose interest. I would just read up to this book and not buy any more.

I agree with you. Doyle is my favorite, maybe because he was introduce first or because LKH made jim sooooo fascinating. I want a Doyle in my life.

A death in Swallowing Darkness lotusja April 3 2008, 23:20:06 UTC
I was thinking that this death worth crying over might be more like Kitto. His death would shake Merry and the others and considering how things are going to change now that she is pregnant, she can't keep Kitto. After that I would think the most difficult non major character death might be the sea God. As he was her friend before her father's death it might be enough to cry about. It's hard to lose a favorite "uncle" especially if they die trying to save you or they take a hit for you. We have to assume that Cel is going to actively go after Merry and Andais might too if she decides she doesn't like the way things are going. I think we're going to see a lot more problems now that Merry is pregnant and the 3 children 6 father issue is going to make Andais see red. I don't think Andais will survive the death of her son. I actually think he'll kill her and then go after Merry and the babies. There are so many ways to go. We'll have to wait till October. Blog says shes over 150 pages and going strong.

Kitto is a possibility and Barinthus too.

I'm hoping it's one of the daddies though... haha bad of me I know... but there's just too many men.

True. I can't wait for October :) Yeah here's hoping she reaches 500 for October. Hurrah.

i don't think it is doyle anonymous June 18 2008, 13:36:02 UTC
In seduce in moonlight she had a dream about doyle, rhys, galen, nicca, and kitto about them later when rhys is fully healed so I don't think it could be them. It could be frost, I mean really dead. He is the sacrafical king after all. I don't see the goddess giving power back to barnithias just to kill him, but i don't know.

It could be frost but she's thinning down men, and prophesies are not set in stone. Personally if I saw one of the prophesies I'd think that although she saw it come to be, it may not go into fruition because she had that prophesy.

There are two types of prophesy 1) the unmovable ones sort of like the one bestowed to the prophet in Oedipus wherein destiny came to be even after Oedipus was thrown away 2) the shakable ones, ones that just show a glimpse which warn you towards or away from what happens. So it could be anything really. And she (LKH) did say she was culling men.

Who Ghosted Swallowing Darkness? anonymous April 30 2010, 19:43:23 UTC
I have listened to all of Merry Gentry's stories. Swallowing Darkness has too much action and not as much sex as the other books. It was the only book that had an ending. When you get it in audio Claudia Black does the narration in only this book. Laurell Murlington did all the rest. When I mentioned this on her facebook page my statement went missing. I'd be interested in finding out who actually ghost wrote this one for her. I'd like to read their work.

haha yeah. But you have to admit though the writing was better, it was still crappily her writing style. :p Some authors can't take a joke.
