When Hsu instructed him to help du Pont, Snowman couldn't help but feel disappointed. He would surely miss out on participating in Doctor Ojuka's final moments, but he understood his old friend's orders and still shocked by his still far-from-well appearance didn't put up more than a token protest. Anyway, in the end, he would still be killing Watchers, and even better if it turned out these were the same ones involved in trying to kill Hsu Danmei ( ... )

Alexandre had heard of an attack on Hsu's student, while Hsu was gone. He had heard that Cody was raped, and her friends killed along with one of Hsu's good men. He heard that MacDonald, himself, had kept the Lane girl from being beheaded. "It was my first command, years ago. You Immortals, you think that killing our people will stop us, but you fail every time. You slaughtered my friends, at the headquarters. You killed my wife, in New Jersey, in the lab. That little freak whore cost me, dearly, and I came so close to killing her. When you kill me, there will be others who will feel the same rage and disgust that your filth can infect the world. But one day we will win." Klein's eyes burned with that fanatical hate, the same that Horton had, the same as so many that had been systematically eliminated by Hsu and his followers ( ... )

Xiao had just returned with the other bodies, when he heard Klein's retort about stabbing both of Hsu's babies, and he threw the already dead men onto the floor. Barely giving Alex time to step back from taking out his own rage, the vampire was on Klein, hanging off the sliced, bleeding body and pulling back the man's head, the blood pulsing from from the cut on his throat. His fangs were fully extended and eyes yellow, and this time it was not just for effect. "Milord will destroy you all! If it takes him ten years, fifty years, or a hundred. He will still be here. His son will still be here. Cody, all of us will still be here, and your Watchers, your Guild will just be a memory for all to piss on!" Enraged, he tore into Klein's throat, the violence he demonstrated nearly ripping the man's head off ( ... )

His anger and the scent of all the fresh blood had all his predatory senses heightened, and he was more than ready strike again. Alex's killer instincts were singing, wanting to finish the last victim and be done. But the man did have some knowledge that might be useful, so he decided to take him to Hsu and Orestes, to drain him of what use he might possess for them. Frustrated, he grabbed the man by the collar, and threw him towards the kitchen. "Strip, and clean yourself with that towel and the soap and water. Don't even think about trying for a weapon, or suicide, because I will make your woman and brat suffer for it." Hsu didn't kill children, but that didn't mean that they wouldn't kill the woman and farm out the child ( ... )

Xiao guarded their prisoner while Alex found clothing for him. Every time the man hesitated, all Snow had to do was hiss, draw one of his swords a fraction from its scabbard, or just take a step towards him to encourage him to continue cleaning himself ( ... )

Then he got into the driver's seat, and waited until Xiao was inside. They started the car, and the snow, ice and gravel spat up under the tires, as Alex pulled out ( ... )

Once they were a suitable distance from the cabin, Snowman looked back and pressed send. A second later, the whole cabin went up followed quickly by the loud noise of the explosion that made their prisoner visibly jump. "Our guest seems a little nervous." He grinned at du Pont ( ... )

Xiao had covered himself well that not an ounce of sunlight permeated through the blankets he had covered himself with. Still, he remained awake, although quiet, conserving his energy, even well fed as he had been. He came alert again as they passed through the gates and into the compound ( ... )

Pretty thing, though certainly not what he expected. She reminded him a little of the girl, Minette, that he had met with Hsu, so long ago. In fact, she reminded him a little of his own Isabella, but then, every woman reminded him of Bella. "I am glad to see you well, mon ami. My prayers for your health and that of your blessed son have been answered, and I am glad." While Alexandre was not overly religious, he was a product of his Catholic time, and, besides, a little ritual and dogma never hurt, given his lifestyle. It almost added an element of sacrament to killing. Alex always enjoyed that, something in it fed his dark nature ( ... )
