So with the time of Wall St. bonuses fast approaching, I've started the search for a new bike. I've had my heart set on a Ducati 916 descendant (748, 996, 998) since the first time I saw one, but now that I've got the means, I'm second-guessing myself. There are now 3 possibilities:

umm, little of column a (5 spoke Marchesinis, 4V Liquid Cooled vtwin) little of colum c (naked, easy to maintain): s4r (if you need the liquid cooled sbk engine), s2r (800 or 1000ds) if you want the cheaper, cleaner, but still fun...

i just went to the unveiling of the new s4rs tonight at Ducati New York, and that's a damn sweet bike.

but it doesn't make me drool like the 996.

are you riding at the moment, sqweak?

yes, the s4rs is a treat.

yep, had a little get-off last fall and fucked up my shoulder. that coupled with current license restrictions is limiting my riding time, but i do have a steed in the stable. s2r 800 for right now, though when the fiancee' gets here in a few months she will most likely be gifted it as i upgrade to the s2r1k

01 748S identical to mine go for 7-8k these days-
i've never seen a finer form.

considering how much half a saturn would cost me in parking, insurance, etc., i can't afford not to get the bike.

and i agree on the 748s, although i don't know if i want one identical to yours. ;)

of course, when a 996s in my hood goes for $9k, it's hard to say no, but i'm holding out for yellow.

ha! yeah, i saw the paul smart 1000 at the motorcycle show this past weekend. nice, but not for me.

and i'm with ya on the bike and car, but i've got access to enough garage space for one bike. or maybe two. but definitely not a car.
