Darn it, I need a new fandom.

I'm watching Supernatural, Merlin, Castle, DWTS, Being Human, and reruns of SGA and SG-1. I'm not feeling fanficcy about any of them.

Any suggestions on fandoms? Fic recs to get me hooked? I miss fandom....

Have you seen Avatar: The Last Airbender? It's really good, and it's available on Netflix.

It has a fanfic community?

It has a decent-sized fandom. A ton of people on my flist are into it. There's lots of good fic on http://white-lotus.dreamwidth.org/ and AO3 to name a couple.

(This may be obvious--I don't know how familiar you are with the show, if at all--but I'm not talking about the live-action movie from this summer or the recent movie with the blue people. I mean the Nickelodeon cartoon. Which shocked me with how amazing the writing was.)

I see it on the TV guide every now and then....

I'm quite enjoying Hawaii 5-O, including the fic. I've just finished reading this one: The Eleventh Hour which was really, really good. My other ongoing obsession is Vampire Diaries, which I expected to be essentially 90210 with fangs but which turned out to be an incredibly tightly plotted fun show.

I've heard good things about White Collar too but I haven't seen any of those.

Indeed they do! Though, for me, I'm not invested in the Steve/Danny so much. I've seen some good fics, and I get where it's coming from, but I've been finding that the relationship aspect is kind of welded on to good stories in a way that detracts (or, maybe, distracts) from them.

On the other hand, when it's done well, it really works. :)

Completely agree, the best fics are the ones that feel natural:)

Hmmm, Hawaii Five-0? It's getting a lot of great Steve/Danny fics (wherein Kono and Chin are completely awesome). I don't have a list right now, but AO3 has a bunch and my memories have an H50 section.

My current fannish obsession is BBC's Sherlock, a modern retelling of Sherlock Holmes, but I can't actually recommend it to anyone because this fandom literally dragged me in kicking and screaming and I hope to save others from my sad fate.

(Also, there are objectively really quite a few problems with the show, which is why I initially said "Meh, I liked it fine but won't do the fandom thing." AND THEN THE FANDOM GOT ME.)

Hah, I watched it and didn't expect to get fannish about it but your Sherlock stories were addicting (and I try to rec them to anyone expressing even the faintest interest in the show) and although I still read way more SGA than anything else now I also read (and have watched a few vids) in Sherlock. :)

Maud is an addictive writer. I consider her fic to be a controlled substance.

I like White Collar. I also like Burn Notice.

It's extremely embarrassing to note that a friend also writes the most delicious mildly AU Glee m/m stuff that absolutely curls my toes...and I don't even watch Glee...I don't even know who those people ARE!

Best wishes in finding some distraction.

White Collar's a great show, I saw it at raveninthewind's. At this point I'm only attracted to writing fandoms with fantasy os sci-fi elements elements.
