First Kiss
The bell rang and it meant another hour for Ann Hayashi to spend freely. She was one who would rather spend the whole day reading but she wasn’t a total geek. In fact, she was one of the most beautiful faces in school if she didn’t have to hide those dazzling, natural, green eyes behind her glasses and bangs.
She walked through the hallway and she happened to pass by a group of girls who were frantically waiting for their daily dose of inspiration.
“Yabu-senpai! Kyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa~~~”
“Yo! Ohayou~”
And then another stream of screaming.
“Ohayou~” he greeted her. She stared at him and blushed. He was, after all, very charming.
“Ohayou~” he greeted again but this time he said it to the girl behind her.
Playboy. She thought.
Yabu Kota continued to greet every girl he met as he made his way to his classroom.
She sighed.
The library was the room at the end of the corridor. It was her haven. A place where she could daydream and fall in love with the fictional characters in those classic novels.
She was about to start reading one when a head popped out of nowhere.
“Hey there beautiful!”
And if not for the big “SILENCE” signboard in front of her, she could have screamed. She instead coughed and covered her mouth.
“Did I scare you that much?”
“Yaotome-senpai, you’re not supposed to do that here!”
He chuckled showing those set of crooked, white teeth.
Hikaru Yaotome has been hovering around the library lately. And Ann couldn’t see anything interesting in the library that might be amusing to her sempai.
“What are you reading today?”
“Wuthering Heights.”
“Boring.” He straightened up, winked at her and left.
She blushed. Hikaru was charming today, wasn’t he?
She looked at the book she was holding. Wuthering Heights was maybe really boring especially when you have read it several times already. So she closed the book, stood up to find another material to read.
Her fingers were searching the novels when one book caught her fancy. It was one, unfamiliar title but she thought it was interesting.
She placed the book on the table and opened the first pages.
“One Hundred Years Of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez.” A voice spoke just across the table. Ann looked up and saw another charming but painfully beautiful face sitting in front of her.
“Inoo-sempai.”
“So you like reading these kinds of books?” He asked while holding a rather thick booth entitled The Poetics of Space.
“I actually have no idea what’s it about. I just randomly picked it for today.” She smiled shyly.
He said nothing afterwards. He seemed to continue to read his thick book.
Inoo Kei knew a lot of things. He was one brilliant student, not to mention that he was on top of the class.
Ann couldn’t stand another second looking at him so she shifted her attention to the pages in front of her.
After a minute she heard some giggling behind her. It seems like some younger girls were planning to give something to the cute sempai who was still engrossed in his readings.
Ann felt the need to get out of the way and transferred to an old arm chair at the farthest corner of the library.
She continued her reading when she felt her head spin and everything went black.
But this feeling was all too familiar to her. She knew that she was in her dreamland. Everything felt comfortable, warm, light and beautiful until she felt her hear skip a beat. At first she didn’t know why but when reality was pulling her back, she could feel it. She could feel that warmth which touched her lips.
She woke up and scanned the space around here. No one was there but she was a hundred percent sure that it was no dream because when she touched her lips, they felt warm and wet?
She sat there wide awake now.
Who could have stolen her first library kiss?
