She survived the first leg of exams. And last minute cramming does work. She had to thank Yaotome for that little but useful advice.

“Ren, there’s a gig tonight at my place. There will be this cool Indie band who has this good-looking front man! You should come!”

She thought she needed some little unwinding. An hour wouldn’t hurt, right? And she had to reward herself for a job well done.
Reasons. She was just itching to get out again.

“Sure sure! Count me in!”

She could just drop by Yaotome’s place and copy his notes and finish studying at home and then survive another set of exams the next day. A very well-thought of plan, she thought.

So she ended up tagging along with the party people. The band was great, good music. Food was also served for free.
Just what she wanted - a time to unwind. And speaking of time the clock just told her it was half past twelve

Shoot.

She hurriedly left the place and while ignoring the secretary’s calls. The next thing she knew, she was standing in front of his doorstep.

Don’t tell me you’re already sleeping Yaotome!

I was now banging on his door.

My future lies behind this door.

Click.

“What the-“

“Hey! I really need to copy your notes.”

He let me in. Looks like he was already sleeping when I knocked.

“I thought you weren’t interested in my tutoring skills anymore.”

“Haha! I need your notes baka!”

“I have a name you know.” He sounded a bit serious.

“Okay, can I now borrow your books, Yaotome-kun?”

He pointed at the table. I sat down and began to read like crazy.

“Don’t your friends have books?”

“I actually…don’t have friends.”

“Excuse me?”

Didn’t he hear me? I said No friends.

“Why? Is it that unbelievable?”

It is. Sure people would think the diplomat’s daughter had a ton of friends but the truth is, I never had one I could really call a friend. What I said kinda bothered him. I could see it in his face. He maybe thinks it was very personal but I don’t really care.

“Why come so late? Like 1 in the morning! Where have you been? Doesn’t your father look for you?”

I looked at him. He was seriously asking.

“I dropped by a gig at a friends place and no I don’t have a father who looks for me. He sends his secretary to stalk me, to make sure I’m alive. Whatever.”

“You go to gigs when you have exams the next day?” He laughed. “You’re really unbelievable!”

I know right?

He shook his head in amazement. And I didn’t like it. Maybe he thinks I’m a wasted kid.

“Okay. How about this. Tomorrow and for the rest of the week, make sure I don’t run off to some other commitments outside school. I come home with you…to study. Fair enough?”

“And what do I get in return for all these?”

He’s actually taking all these seriously. Seriously?!

What did he need or want anyway? I looked around his apartment and saw a box of ramen.

“How about I cook you a decent dinner?”

“You? Cook? Come on!”

Ouch!

“Hey, I may be a brat, but honey, don’t go blaming me when you get down on your knees and beg me to cook for you again!”

“Really?”

You’re getting one my nerves Yaotome!

“You’ll see!”

He smirked. He smirked! Urgh!

“Okay just shut up! I have to study.”

“Whatever you say honey.”

I had to throw a book at him.
